Artist Profile: Rini Hartman

Rini Hartman hails from the Netherlands and specializes in a wide range of mediums such as photography, video, prints, and even poetry. A self-taught artist with previous experience in non-profit communications and social sciences, he is fascinated with themes of ethical world issues, particularly those dealing with indigenous cultures and nature. His work is primarily surrealist or sub-realist in style, and has been featured at the World Social Forum in Kenya, at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and at the Museum of the National Bank in Brussels. We think he would feel right at home with Love and Water designs because he has experience with not-for-profit organizations and is inspired to make the world around him a better place!

This piece is called "She is a Hero." We think it could be matched with Nikibasika, which is following a group of children in Uganda in order to provide them with proper education and healthcare.

Featured Charity: Nikibasika

This month our featured charity project is Nikibasika!

Nikibasika, means “it is possible” in the Western Ugandan language of Runyankole. The charity hope to provide Kasese, Uganda, with all the opportunities and support  that they can. In order to do they are working to help children from the region to continue their education and become self-sustaining, healthy, well-adjusted adults. A team of Canadian volunteers have been aiding and funding the basic needs for this group of 51 children through whatever post-secondary education plan they choose for themselves, and, over the next 12 years, hope to give the children ample room to develop their own skills in career-planning, financial management, general health, and confidence.

f this has inspired you to create a t-shirt design for The Tower of Hope, submit it to our February Featured Design Project! Or check out their website to see what kind of specific help they give!
